About Michael

Michael Poll is an author, entrepreneur and compelling campus speaker.

He’s authored several books for students.  Ka-Ching!  How To Make $1,000,000 After Graduation (without lying, cheating or stealing) is based on his work with corporations and associations.  He dispels myths of what students mistakenly believe employers look for when hiring (he knows, because they tell him) and outlines what students need to do to best prepare for getting a job after college.  Nearly 20,000 students have attended his presentation "Straight A's Won't Get You The Job" (also called "Greeks Get Hired!") based on the book.  Get a FREE copy!

Michael takes no prisoners with his straight shooting, no BS approach of leadership in Wake Up, Stop Whining and Start Leading.  Based on results from the two leadership inventory tools he developed and his own original research, this is a must read (never boring) book for all student leaders!

With a forward by Rick Barnes, past AFA President, Affiliation is Not Enough! gives Greeks the stuff they need to make a personal difference in their chapters and their lives.

Burn Your College Resume uses Michael's real world approach in telling students what they should (and should not) do when creating their resumes.  After reviewing resumes of students and corporate professionals for years, he got tired of finding the same dumb mistakes.  And guess what...they’re the things that turn off employers too.  Burn your college resume and create a marketing brochure instead! This one’s FREE too!

Just out, Sweaty Palms, Pits and Parts!  Present Like a Pro Without Peeing Your Pants shows you how to convincingly present and speak comfortably in meetings, in class or in an interview.  Discover how to quickly and confidently connect with administrators, your organization or chapter, and potential employers.

Due for publication in May 2007 by Fast Forward Press, College In Ten Steps outlines the top ten essential  things students need to know (and do) in order to navigate their way through college successfully.  Check out College is for Losers, part of the preface for the book.

Part of the CAMPUSPEAK team, Michael is available to speak on campuses, schedule permitting.

Michael’s written almost two dozen articles printed in regional, national and international publications including Revitalize Your Organization…By Changing It; Meetings That Make Sense; Smells Like Team Spirit; and Reframing Negativity.

He holds a BS from Towson State and an MS from Eastern Illinois.  He served on the Board of Directors for NACA and has volunteered with MGCA, SEPC, ACU-I, ACPA, NCSS and higher ed associations.

He is the author of several Squidoo pages and creator of Kid Cards.
